Our first venture beyond the Iberian Peninsula, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to work with one of South America’s top wineries, to create a couple of sensational Malbec-based blends. This is a particularly interesting blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Franc, from the Uco Valley, Mendoza. We’re proud to welcome such incredible wines to the Anciano family.
DO: Uco Valley, Mendoza – Argentina
Winemaker: Ruben Ruffo
Winery: La Agricola
The grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards which are owned by the winery. There is a period of 5 days maceration at cold temperature of 5°C. Classic fermentation follows with selected yeasts from owned vineyards at 29°C. Maceration for 20 days. Part of the wine (40%) is aged in French oak barrels for 10 months.
Red violet colour of medium intensity. Complex nose with typical Malbec aromas of red and black fruits such as cherries, plums and jam. It also has notes of dry tomato leaves and spice from the Cabernet Franc. In the mouth, there are dark fruits and firm tannins, making for a fantastic combination resulting in an elegant wine of great concentration.
